Aflac offers supplemental policies to all benefited employees and their families through the convenience of post-tax payroll deduction. These policies are in addition to county-offered insurance.

These policies feature:

  • GUARANTEE ISSUE: During the initial enrollment period, all of the new policies are offered to benefited employees and their families with no medical questions or exams to qualify for the coverage, even if you have previously been denied coverage.
  • NO PRE-EXISTING CONDITION LIMITATION PERIOD: There is no waiting period for pre-existing conditions on the Critical Illness policy.
  • EASE OF CLAIMS: Aflac & MetLife provide excellent claims and customer service and you will receive concierge service from our benefits consulting firm, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. – Voluntary Benefits Division.
  • DIRECT PAYMENT TO THE POLICYHOLDER: When a claim payment is made, it is sent directly to you as a policyholder. The claim is designed to help you cover expenses you may incur out of pocket as a result of a major covered illness diagnosis, accident, hospital stay, or loss of life.
  • PAYROLL DEDUCTION: These policies are being offered to you through the convenience of payroll deduction.
  • PORTABLE: In the event you leave Ottawa County in the future, you make take the plans with you.

What are the policy types offered?

Expenses associated with a hospital stay can be financially difficult if money is tight. Having the right coverage in the right place before you experience a sickness or injury can help eliminate your financial concerns and provide support at a time when it is needed most.

The accident plan is designed to pay benefits direct to the policyholder based on treatment received and injuries sustained as a result of a covered accident.

Critical Illness insurance pays a lump sum benefit when a covered critical illness is diagnosed. This benefit is paid direct to the policyholder to help cover any expenses that typically are paid out of pocket.  This policy also comes with a wellness benefit.
